TAKE THIS MOMENT TO THINK ABOUT YOU

Let’s face it, navigating peer pressure can be challenging, especially when it feels like everyone around you is making different choices. It's crucial to remember that your health and well-being—physically, emotionally, and mentally—are unique to you. While statistics and trends can offer insights, they don't define who you are or what you should do.
Instead, use this information as a tool to make informed decisions that align with your values and needs. Empower yourself by prioritizing what's best for you, and don't be afraid to stand out or make choices that might be different from your peers. Your well-being is your journey, and it's okay to take the path that feels right for you.

About
OUR FOUNDER
I’m Dr. Quinyatta Mumford, known as the Village Public Health Doc, and my journey is a testament to resilience and community. Raised in Tuscumbia, Alabama, by a single parent in a low-income household, I understand the realities that many of our youth face today. Despite the challenges, these experiences fueled my commitment to public health, shaping my belief that every young person deserves a supportive village. Today, as a single mother raising my own children in a city without family nearby, I’m deeply aware of what it means to build support systems from the ground up. With a Doctorate in Public Health focused on Public Health Leadership, my dissertation uncovered a critical gap in how Community Health Workers (CHWs) were underutilized in addressing health needs among adolescents and young adults. This insight inspired our Vibe Safe Initiative, where our Public Health Ambassadors are trained in CHW skills to deliver meaningful, peer-to-peer support. But that discovery wasn’t just academic—it’s central to my approach at Village Public Health. I make it a point to be a part of the communities we serve, to lean in and learn what’s truly happening on the ground. That’s what shapes how we approach public health. I believe that just as we say, "meet people where they are," we also have to reach the problem where it is. You have to look beyond the surface, ask deeper questions, and uncover the real point of entry that can drive lasting change. That means getting into the heart of the community and letting the real challenges and needs guide our work. For many young people, traditional approaches fall short because they don’t go deep enough. At Village Public Health, we’re committed to going deeper—to creating programs that address mental, physical, and emotional health in ways that resonate and make a difference. For me, Village Public Health is about building that village of support, offering the mentorship, resources, and tools that empower youth to see their potential and navigate their own paths. And I’m always open to partnering with organizations that share this vision and want to create a brighter future for our youth.
